Favorite WOD:

I don’t really have a favorite.

Least Favorite WOD:

ROWING!!!!  I HATE ROWING WITH A PASSION!!!!

Tell us about you sports & fitness background:

I have played sports all throughout my life from Baseball when I was probably 4 all the way up to high school where I then began playing Golf, Football, and running track.  After high school I continued my athletic career with Football at UMHB in which I played from 2006-2010.  As far as going to the gym and working out I never really did any extra work other than what was required until right before I graduated high school and that was all globo style lifting.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel?

I don’t really remember my first WOD but I do remember that I was visiting Brittani at the time from school and she brought me along.  I remember it being in the old box out in the HEAT!!  I believe it was running kettle bell swings and maybe one other movement.  Other than that everything else was a blur. I mean I had done tough workouts before but there was just something different about it, I don’t know if it was that I just wanted to finish as fast as I could so I didn’t look like a wimp in front of my girlfriend or that I just had no idea what the word pacing meant…  But from then on that was it after I got back to school I started looking around for a Box found a buddy of mine that had just opened his own place in Belton and I haven’t looked back since.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)?

I don’t feel like I have lost or gained a lot weight from doing crossfit, sure I have fluctuated within 10-15# due to changing what I was eating, and based on what we were preparing for.  I feel the biggest change for me has been the way I carry weight.  When I started crossfit I looked like your typical football player, thick bulky neck and then thicker through my midsection.  Now I weight about what I weighed in college at my heaviest but am much leaner.

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?

I never expected to become a coach/ trainer and have the ability to influence and guide people to where they want to go.  Whether that is fine tuning their gymnast skills, coaching them through technique with lifts to help them with their overall strength, or even just helping someone out with mobility tips or stretching!!!

Name one goal you have reached since joining CFK and one goal you want to achieve (example:  deadlift/squat/press ___ pounds; do a pullup; do a WOD RX’d, etc.):

One of the goals I set when starting crossfit was to clean 300#, just yesterday not only did I clean 300#, I power cleaned it x 3 touch and go.  But I think going forward one of my biggest goals is to just have fun at the Crossfit Games and enjoy the experience no matter the outcome…..AND to squat clean 345 and back squat 500#.

Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFK moments:

There are tons of things I could say that are my favorite crossfit moments like qualifying for regionals as a team 4 years in a row or qualifying for the GAMES for the first time this year! But I would have to say that my best crossfit memory/moment would have to be when Brittani got her first Muscle Up!  Just the excitement and gratification on her face after the Months/Years of hard work and frustration leading up to it!!

Any advice for people just getting started?

Crossfit is not easy, it’s not supposed to be!!!  The hardest part about crossfit is getting started and sticking with it!

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?

I love just getting to hang out with my wife whether that be at home just relaxing or watching a movie or hanging out with the fam. I also enjoy doing projects around the house, building things in the garage.
