When did you first start doing CrossFit?: Almost 5 years ago, on 9/11. I immediately learned about Hero WODS.
When did you first start training at CrossFit Katy?: 3 years this summer
What class do you generally attend (morning/afternoon)? 5am during the school year or 6:05am during the summer
Favorite WOD: Anything with wall balls, kettlebells, cleans, or the assault bike
Least Favorite WOD: Anything 7x2
Tell us about your sports & fitness background: I didn’t get into any kind of fitness until I was 25. I was an unhealthy young adult and started out with just walking, which eventually led to running. My husband and I joined a local gym and worked out there for a few years before joining crossfit.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD... what was it, and how did it feel? My husband, Kevin, and I joined after belonging to our Park District’s gym for several years. My first WOD was death by thrusters, followed by something with burpee box jumps. It was 9/11 and a hero WOD, it was horrible!
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)? I have gained a lot of muscle and have seen an increase in my cardio endurance. I’m currently in the best shape of my life :)
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced since starting CrossFit? I’m now a permanent morning person.
Name one goal you have reached since joining CFK: I finally conquered wall walks!
Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFK moments: I love being a part of the early riser crew, they make 5am workouts enjoyable!
Any advice for people just getting started? Keep track of your workouts and lifts. You’ll look back and be surprised by how far you’ve come!
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit? I love spending time with my family and exploring new places.
