Least Favorite WOD: Too many to count but I’d say the 7 x 2 with the max heavy ball squat cleans at the end
Tell us about your sports & fitness background: I’ve generally always worked out in one way or another but I’ve always hated and actively avoided anything with cardio. I played golf throughout high school and still do every once in a while when we can find the time. Over the past 15 years or so prior to starting Crossfit I rotated through group exercises classes like Body Pump and Pure Barre several days a week.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD... what was it, and how did it feel? One of my best friends from college started doing Crossfit in Tampa and eventually became a coach and co-owner of a gym. I had been lamenting to her how hard it was to lose the baby weight and meet other moms in the community and she suggested I find a Crossfit gym that offered childcare and I was sure to get in shape and meet other moms. I didn’t think I could handle the intensity but talked my husband into trying it out and while we died, we were hooked.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)? I was finally able to lose the baby weight after two kids and I’m slowly learning to embrace the cardio.
Name one goal you have reached since joining CFK: I was terrified of box jumps and started out with a stack of 8 inch plates in my garage during the zoom classes. I’ve worked up to the 16 inch box now and can do as many as I need to in a WOD now without hesitation.
Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFK moments: We started Crossfit a few weeks before the COVID lockdown. My husband and I started doing the 6 AM zoom classes in our garage with Jessie and it was the highlight of our day and when we both really developed our love of Crossfit.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit? Golfing, traveling and chasing after my two boys
